Role Overview

KT2i is seeking a CNC Programming Technician to develop and maintain numerical control programs that guide metal removal and cutting processes. This role supports production by creating efficient machining programs, improving processes, assembling and presetting tooling, and assisting with shop floor operations as needed. The position plays a key role in maintaining production schedules and optimizing machining performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering drawings, sketches, and design intent to develop accurate machining programs.
  • Perform calculations related to part setup, tooling, speeds, and feeds using charts and tables.
  • Maintain tooling and MRO inventory and provide training to new machinists.
  • Use machinist measuring tools and gauges, including scales, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Identify improperly adjusted machinery and make necessary adjustments.
  • Locate and stage tools, parts, and materials for upcoming production.
  • Program and create prototype parts using CNC machining centers and burn tables.
  • Utilize nesting software to program plasma table operations.
  • Operate CNC machining centers as needed to support production.
  • Track plate inventory to maintain workflow and production efficiency.
  • Provide off-shift production support by phone or in person when required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–6 years of related CNC programming or machining experience.
  • Strong shop mathematics skills, including whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and metric system calculations.
  • Knowledge of metal cutting speeds and feeds.
  • Experience navigating Siemens 840SL and Haas controllers.
  • Ability to manually program accessory heads using Siemens controllers.
  • Experience operating CNC machining centers.
  • Proficiency with nesting software and understanding of burn table operations.
  • Ability to identify and implement improvements to machining processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
